My inspiration often comes from the Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire skies – usually during a ramble with family and friends. They have learnt to be patient when I suddenly see something that I need to capture, either with my sketch pad or the camera!

Soft pastels are my main medium – I like their vibrancy and immediacy - I usually start with an under-painting of acrylic (on quality mount board) or watercolour (on heavy watercolour paper), which is then primed. However, this gritty surface is not kind on my fingers, and I often paint in pure acrylic between pastel paintings – I enjoy the contrast of the mediums, and it helps my skin recover!
